Mexicali es la capital del estado de Baja California, México. Es frontera con Estados Unidos con el estado de California y es la ciudad más situada hacia el norte en toda América Latina.

Mexicali is the capital of the State of Baja California. Situated along the state's northern border with the U.S. state of California, Mexicali is the northernmost city in Latin America.

Mexicali is bordered to the north with the United States (Imperial County, California), to the east with the states of Arizona (US) and Sonora (México), to the west with the municipality of Tecate, and to the south with the municipality of Ensenada. Mexicali has grown to be an important city in México.

The residents of Mexicali, Los Mexicalenses are from culturally diverse backgrounds, and it is among the most racially diverse cities in Mexico, with people from various European, Middle Eastern, African origins and Asian descent.

One of main characteristics of this place is its weather. Since the city was founded in the middle of the desert, mainly to avoid the dangers of the Colorado river spills, the area has very extreme weather, reaching low temperatures in winter and very high temperatures in the summer.

The Hotel del Norte is one of the first Hotels in Mexicali with an art deco architecture. It was build where there was a bar named The Spirit of San Luis used to be visited by Alcapone.

The Mexicali Beer house was established in 1923 and sold one of the finest beer known to the world. It got more famouse when the Volstead Law prohibited alcohol beverage consumption in the US.
